In solidarity, Nasserist presidential hopeful Hamdeen Sabahi joined protesting Ultras football fans at a parliament sit-in demanding justice for those killed in the 1 February Port Said football massacre, along with all the revolution's martyrs.

Several hundred Ultras Ahlawy members, Ahly Club's hardcore football fans, embarked on an open-ended sit-in Sunday in front of the People's Assembly demanding retribution for the Port Said football disaster that saw over 74 Ahly fans killed by groups who appeared to be rioting Masry supporters.

In his visit Sabahi talked with several of the protesting youth, expressing his support for their cause. He chanted with them "Down with military rule."  

Sabahi is a veteran Nasserist opposition figure and former member of the People's Assembly. He officially announced his presidential bid in March 2011, opting to run on an independent ticket and not through the Karama Party, of which he was one of the main founders.

Presidential elections will take place 23-24 May, with the president named 21 June after a runoff voting round 16-17 June, if necessary.
