CAIRO, Apr 21 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's press syndicate presented an urgent appeals draft to the prosecutor general on Tuesday following the acquittal of ousted President Mohamed Mursi and others of the murder of protesters near the Ittihadeya palace.

Clashes erupted between Mursi supporters and anti-Mursi protesters outside the Ittihadeya presidential palace in Cairo in December 2012, leaving over ten killed, including late Journalist Al-Hosseiny Abou Deif.

Mursi was sentenced to 20 years of maximum security prison for charges of show of force and detention associated with physical torture during the 2012 deadly protests, earlier on Tuesday.

He was being tried alongside 14 others, including Muslim Brotherhood leading figures, all of whom were acquitted of murder charges.

The 2012 sit-in was protesting a constitutional declaration issued by Mursi in November, criticised for giving him sweeping powers.

Al Hosseiny Abou Deif was shot in the head while covering news of the clashes for his newspaper, before passing away at al-Qasr al-Aini Hospital.
