Al-Masryeen Al-Ahrrar Party has warned against attempts of intentional exclusion of minorities from the constituent assembly tasked with drafting Egypt’s new constitution.
Head of the liberal party, Ahmed Said, has stressed in a statement on the importance of real representation of all sectors, including women, Coptic Christians, human rights activists, Nubians, Bedouins and expatriates.
He added that the fate of the nation and its people should not be decided by the majority, reported the Middle East News Agency.
In a joint session on Saturday, parliamentary chambers had decided to equally divide the constituent assembly between members of parliament and public figures.
