The Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) said on Wednesday that the film, that is considered offensive to Muslims as it insults Prophet Mohammad, is a hate crime and a failed attempt to raise sectarian strife.
The party added on its official Facebook page that the film is morally unacceptable, a serious violation to freedom of expression and a piercing transgression of nations' convictions.
The statement insisted that Egypt's Muslims and Christians will remain "united in the face of despicable attempts to inflame sectarian tension and drag the country into a never ending whirlpool of violence".
It did not mention yesterday's attack on the United States embassy in Cairo.
Hundreds of protesters gathered by the United States embassy in Cairo on Tuesday to express their outrage over the offensive film.
The FJP called on "the nation's wise to bury this tension alive and expose its instigators" then put them on trial immediately on charges of defaming monotheistic religions.
