CAIRO, March 19 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt's prosecutor-general ordered an immediate investigation into the placing of a flag used by the extremist al-Qaeda group at Cairo's al-Azhar University on Wednesday.

The iconic black flag that has "There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of God" printed on it in white was said to have been placed by students who support the Muslim Brotherhood on campus.

Egypt's National Security apparatus of the interior minister, previously known as State Security, was ordered to investigate the case and bring its perpetrators to justice, a judicial source said.

All footage of the flag were also ordered to be submitted to the authorities who had said that about 300 pro-Brotherhood students raised the flag on campus.

Several universities across Egypt saw clashes on Wednesday as pro-Brotherhood students organized demonstrations to denounce the army and show support for ousted President Mohamed Mursi.

Two people have been killed in the clashes, the health minister said.
