CAIRO, Dec 3 (Aswat Masriya) Egyptian poet and political activist Ahmed Fouad Negm died on Tuesday morning at 84 years old, confirmed poet Zain al-Abdeen Fouad. 

Negm, who was born in Sharqiya in 1929, is known for revolutionary songs he wrote in the 70’s with composer Sheikh Imam. 

Negm took part in the founding of a few opposition political parties and is known for criticizing the Hosni Mubarak regime (1981 – 2011) and the Mohamed Mursi administration (2012 – 2013).
