Coptic Christian Pope Tawadros arrived at Vatican City on Thursday in the first visit of an Egyptian pope to the Catholic Church in 40 years. 

Pope Tawadros will meet with Pope Francis of Rome to congratulate him on being chose as Pope of the Catholic Church and discuss cooperation between the two churches. 

Pope Shenouda III, who died last year, last visited the Vatican in May of 1973.  

Pope Tawadros will also meet with the Egyptian delegation in Italy.
