Pro-Mursi alliance rejects anticipated economic conference - statement

CAIRO, Mar 11 (Aswat Masriya) - The Anti-Coup Alliance, which supports ousted Islamist President Mohamed Mursi, rejected on Wednesday Egypt's anticipated economic conference, scheduled to begin at the end of the week.
The alliance said that going forward with the conference is "an attempt to beautify and falsify the reality," in a statement, adding that the country is on the verge of going "bankrupt".
Egypt has long been campaigning for the conference, due to be held from Friday to Sunday in the resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, among regional and international trade allies.
The state strongly believes heavy participation in the conference would help in the recovery of an economy battered by political turmoil during the past four years.
The Anti-Coup Alliance expressed its rejection to "any investor who thinks he can monopolise ... the nation and the rights of the Egyptian people ..."
It called for rallying outside the presidential palace to call for "overthrowing the regime".
The Anti-Coup Alliance, which includes the banned Muslim Brotherhood, has been holding protests on an almost weekly basis against the current regime since Mursi's military ouster in July 2013.
