CAIRO, Sept 4 (Aswat Masriya) - Egypt's National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) called for allowing hunger-strike activists Ahmed Douma and Mohamed AbdelRahman Nouby medical supervision at an external hospital following the deterioration of their medical condition.

The council demanded on Thursday the transfer of Nouby to an external hospital and placing him under close medical supervision, warning that he might slip into coma. It demanded gastroscopy and medical tests for Douma, also at an external hospital.

NCHR's recommendations were issued in a statement released following the visit of its delegation to a number of hunger-striking activists in Tora prison.

The council also called upon the prosecution to look into petitions to release temporary detainees.

Douma, Nouby, and Alaa Abdel Fattah, are among other prisoners who have gone on hunger strike, pending their release from jail.

He announced going on hunger strike two weeks ago, and started the strike on August 28, said his wife Nourhan Hefzy. Douma's lawyer said his client lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time and looked exhausted on Wednesday.
