Mexican tourists' bodies flown out of Egypt - airport sources

CAIRO, Sept 22 (Aswat Masriya) - The bodies of the eight Mexican tourists who were killed in Egypt's Western Desert were flown to Dutch capital Amsterdam, on their way to Mexico, in the early hours of Tuesday, airport sources said.
A representative of the Mexican embassy in Cairo oversaw the transfer process, the sources added.
In what has been officially described as an accident, Egypt’s security forces killed 12, including eight Mexican tourists, and injured 10 others near Bahariya oasis, a tourist site at the Western desert on Sept. 13, mistaking them for militants.
The incident prompted Mexico's condemnation. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto described it as “tragic” and demanded an investigation.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri wrote an open letter to the people of Mexico, expressing his condolences and emphasizing that Egypt is still in the process of investigating the incident.
Mexican Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu and the relatives of the victims visited Cairo last week. She was accompanied by six Mexicans wounded in the incident when she left Egypt.
