CAIRO, May 18 (Aswat Masriya) Egyptian President Adli Mansour issued a decree on Sunday, increasing the salary of the country's president.
"The salary of the republic's president will now be 21,000 Egyptian pounds per month in addition to a representation allowance of 21,000 pounds," the decree said.
The cabinet had proposed the amendments in accordance with the constitution.
Ambassador Ihab Badawy, the spokesman of the presidential office, had said that interim president Mansour has not received money from the office since he was announced president and has instead depended on his salary from the constitutional court.
Mansour headed the constitutional court before he was announced president following the overthrow of President Mohamed Mursi of the Muslim Brotherhood last year.
